COLLISION. a brief explanation.

Our days are full of collision. Everyday we bump into things & people we [don't] want to. It is what happens all around us; that which makes great things possible, but also destroys beauty.

Finding ourselves in conflicts (of any kind) is inevitable. However, they are not always a bad thing. Avoiding collision - these conflicts of our everyday life - often results in a stronger collision, that does more damage, has more impact, or does something that we could never even imagine. I believe one should always accept the fact that there are collisions, and we should not avoid them. Avoiding does not solve anything. It is merely postponing the issue.

But enough about the philosophical aspects of collision; collision is also always around us in the beauty of people & materials we see, touch and use every day. The touch between two people. a handshake, a hug, a kiss. The way one materials is attached to another, such as wood & steel or glass & aluminum, in buildings / devices / objects. These interactions are all collisions, although we don't experience them as actual collisions. Why? Because they are sophisticated. Nature knows how; roughness, the world of mountains erupting out of the earth, ripping the ground apart, still shows incredible beauty. They are not random collisions of stone against stone, they have carefully been calculated by the planet.

Even though they looks random at first, there is always order.

That is what makes some things really beautiful and appealing, whilst a similar object that looks the same, doesn't feel the same. True love and passion between people (or a design for that matter) always shows. COLLISION is what creates everything. And when it's sophisticated - refined and complex - that's when true beauty emerges.

SophisticatedCOLLISION. a project.

It has been a while now, since I started with the idea of creating Sophisticated COLLISION. And today it has been created.
A blog about architecture/design, art, music & culture. Or simply said; a blog about life.

As an architecture student, I notice we are all moving forward at incredible speeds, which makes it hard to stay up-to-date with all that is going on around the world. With this blog I want to create a place where people can read, watch and listen to those things that keep me busy, inspire me, and help me move forward. I will try to post something new 4 times a month. About all the four categories that I want to talk about, something new - or old - that is important to share. Follow, read, watch, enjoy & discuss different subjects with me and let's create a new place together to clear our minds from all the collisions we have during the day.

A project for you.

Thomas.
